Action Plan: Goal 2

Goal 2. Advocate for public policy, legislation and institutional change that enhance the values and contributions of the agricultural research and information communities.

Objectives:

  1. Advocate for NAL as the primary national resource for agricultural information.
  2. Increase communication and reciprocal programs with other agricultural organizations.
  3. Enhance the visibility, credibility and favorable resolution of issues affecting agricultural inforation at the federal, state and local levels.

1. Improve USAIN's avility to function as an authoritative and influential advocate for NAL. Executive Council, Legislative Ongoing
2. Define the relationship between USAIN and NAL. Executive Council 2002
3. Promote legislative activism of USAIN members in regard to legislative and executive actions that impact NAL (especially financial actions). Executive Council, Legislative Ongoing
4. Pariticipate in Blue Ribbon panels and similar venues to promote more NAL involvement in the organization, dissemination and preservation of agricultural information produced by the USDA. Entire membership As needed
5. Provide input to NAL and USDA regarding present and future programs and services and avenues of cooperation. Executive Council, Membership Ongoing
