Mr. Michal Demes, Director of the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information for Agriculture (ISTIA), Slovak Republic, with two of his staff, Mr. Jan Simko and Mrs. Marcela Chrenekova visited NAL on March 24 and 25, 1997, prior to attending the U.S./Central and Eastern European Agricultural Libraries Round Table and the joint USAIN/IAALDconference in Tucson.

Mr. Demes is an energetic and creative leader in the Central and Eastern European agricultural library and information community. He has especially led the Roundtable region on information-sharing and WWW activities. On March 25, he and his colleagues gave a presentation tothe NAL staff about their organization and shared their ideas on ways in which U.S. and European libraries might enhance cooperative relationships through the use of technology.
