Airports & Airport Shuttles

University of Illinois: Willard Airport (CMI)

Airport serving Champaign-Urbana. The local airport, Williard Airport (code:CMI), is served by American and Northwest. Daily connecting flights arrive and depart from Chicago O'Hare, Detroit and St. Louis. The Chancellor Hotel & Convention Center provides free shuttle service to / from the airport. Make arrangements with the hotel ahead of time, or call from the airport (about 10-15 minutes from the hotel).

Central Illinois Regional Airport (BMI)

Many local folks choose to fly into / out of the Bloomington, IL airport, which is about a 1 hour drive from Champaign. With advanced reservations, the Lincolnland Express shuttle service operates between the Bloomington airport and the Champaign transportation hub ((217) 352-6682). The Chancellor Hotel & Convention Center provides free shuttle service to / from the Champagin transportation hub.

Indianapolis International Airport (IND)

Many local folks choose to fly into / out of the Indianapolis International Airport (code: IND), and then drive or take the shuttle over – about a 2 hour drive. The Lincolnland Express shuttle service operates between the Indianapolis airport and the Champaign transportation hub. Reservations are required ((217) 352-6682). The Chancellor Hotel & Convention Center provides free shuttle service to / from the Champagin transportation hub.

Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD)
O'Hare is about 3.5 hours north of Champaign, by car. Both of these shuttles arrive / depart from the Champagin transportation hub, which is about a mile from the Hotel. The Chancellor Hotel & Convention Center provides free shuttle service to / from the Champagin transportation hub.

  • The Bluebird Charter Bus operates between O'Hare and Champaign. They charge $40 one way / $70 round trip; reservations are required. ((800)-400-5500). They leave O'Hare at about 9 AM, 12 PM, 5 PM, 9 PM.
  • The Lincolnland Express shuttle service operates between O'Hare and Champaign. Call for reservations ((217) 352-6682). Their charge varies, depending on how many are in the shuttle, from $40 - $100/trip. They leave O'Hare about every three hours (3 AM, 6 AM, 9 AM, noon, 3 PM, 6 PM, 9 PM, midnight).

The Chancellor Hotel & Convention center provides free shuttle service to / from the railroad depot. Make arrangements with the hotel ahead of time, or call once you arrive (about 5 minutes from the hotel).

Note: Arriving at O'Hare airport? Take the airport shuttle bus to the Chicago train station, then take Amtrak to Champaign. There are currently two arrivals / day (7 AM; 7 PM).

Driving Directions to the Chancellor Hotel

Ok, you've arrived in town. Now, where's the hotel?!
This map shows the intersection of Neil and Kirby along with nearby streets in Champaign.
Note: Highway 45 is also known as Neil Street. Kirby Avenue is also known as Illini Blvd.

From Willard Airport follow the drive to the light at the intersection of Route 45 and turn left. Follow Route 45, which turns into Neil Street, for about five miles. The Chancellor is on the left at the intersection of Neil and Kirby.

From Chicago (and points north), follow I-57 south to exit 237A (I-74 east exit). Go east to exit 182 (Neil Street). Turn right on Neil Street and stay on Neil for about two miles. The Chancellor is on the right at the intersection of Neil and Kirby.

From the south, follow I-57 north to exit 229 (Monticello Road). Turn right and follow Monticello Road to Route 45, then turn left. Follow Route 45, which turns into Neil Street, for about five miles. The Chancellor is on the left at the intersection of Neil and Kirby.

From the west on I-74, go to exit 182 (Neil Street). Turn right on Neil Street and stay on Neil for about two miles. The Chancellor is on the right at the intersection of Neil and Kirby.

From the east on I-74, go to exit 182 (Neil Street). Turn left on Neil Street and stay on Neil for about two miles. The Chancellor is on the right at the intersection of Neil and Kirby.

From the west on I-72, stay on I-72 into Champaign where it becomes University Avenue. Stay on University Avenue to Neil Street. Turn right on Neil Street and go for about a mile. The Chancellor is on the right at the intersection of Neil and Kirby.
